Proverbs 12:26 – “The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.”
Daniel 6:3 – “Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.”
Excellence is a spirit and for everyone who is in Christ, excellence is given. It comes with the redemption package. The Bible declares that Jesus obtained a more excellent ministry which is steered by an even more excellent Spirit. The Bible went further to say, “…as He is, so are we in this world,” 1John 4:17. This implies that we share in the same ministry of excellence with Christ! Glory! Alleluia! We have the excellent spirit.
A great preacher once said, “You do not know your worth that’s why you cannot carry your weight!”
When we realize that the same Spirit which distinguished Daniel has been given to us under a better covenant and arrangement, then our outlook to life takes an upturn. Excellence is a spiritual treasure locked away in the chest of our human spirit and we need to go on an adventure to unlock it.
The most glaring effect of excellence in the life of Daniel and anyone for that matter is promotion! Excellence as defined by the Spirit churns out favour in the life of them that have it. You see, you cannot be promoted if you have not been favoured and the more robust your promotion is, the greater is the substance called excellence that is at work in your life.
It is essential that you know that Supernatural excellence is a substance that is created by the operation of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. However, the manifestation of it lies in the self determination of the believer. In other words, it is a choice. After all, the journey of Daniel and his friends into stardom began when Daniel and his circle of friends determined and decided that they were not going to defile themselves with the king’s meat. This is very instructive as an example to those who seek to experience the unhindered flow of excellence in their lives. You must decide before excellence can be deployed in your life! Daniel chose to be excellent and we read about how he was preferred.
While the seed of excellence is undeniably resident within you, you must fan it to flame through the agency of spirited determination laced with an array of spiritual activities like prayer, confession and principled lifestyle just like Daniel and his friends did in Bible times. When these happen, your life will take a most radiant dimension and your God will turn you into a celebrity. O yes! You become a celeb because the spirit of excellence brings you out of the shadows and turns the spotlight on you while bringing glory to the name of your God. This was the testimony of Daniel.
Remember, excellence is a spirit but it needs a yielded vessel through which it can manifest. It is true that we are excellent by redemption but we manifest excellence by yielding to the movement of the Holy Spirit in our life. Otherwise, life will continue to appear as a string of trials and errors which is not a reflection of a supernaturally driven life.
